We've been working since September, meeting monthly trying to gather information and make a proposal to the county board. I think this proposal is going to go forward and I think it's a good thing for our county.

I'm not surprised. The proposal itself was much too dramatic a change, ... There [wasn't] good information provided to people. From what I gather they did not feel they were well informed on what the proposal would do.

Many county employees, and myself, chose to make Chester County their career because of the retirement package that was available. The new proposal does not serve and reward faithful employees.

A tentative agreement emerged from those present to work together to submit a multi county proposal if possible. Polk County has also expressed interest in a comprehensive plan.

We believe the Hennepin County-Twins' proposal will fail, should it come up again, because it doesn't include a referendum. We feel that legislators will respond to overwhelming public opinion and approve this proposal only if a referendum is added.

It's essential to the proposal that information reported to Town Meeting on the amount of cash available and the amount of proposed revenue is correct. The way it appears, union leadership now will make a last-minute proposal, possibly as late as September 14 or 15, and characterize it as its 'magnanimous last and best effort to save the season,' ... I am doubtful that the proposal will be a meaningful, bona fide effort to address our problems, which threaten to deprive our fans of a prompt start to the season. Can we prepare a proposal by September? Yes. But the issue is building a consensus, and making sure we have a smart business plan. We want to make sure the City Council is on board.
