en We knew that they were going to come out and run. I told the girls at the end of the quarter, that we had to get back and play good defense and that would get us back into the game.

en They were getting great looks at the basket in the second quarter and they were making them. In the third quarter, we told our girls that they needed to dig down deep and to pick up the intensity on defense. We were able to battle back in the game.

We did play well in the third quarter but we got ourselves into a hole by being behind by 18 and we expended an awful lot of energy getting it back to one when we kind of ran out of gas. Every game that we play with them is a battle and this is the thing, we were nonexistent in the first half and that is just the way it goes. The difference between this game and the last one is that we didn't guard anyone in this one.

en I just wanted to see a little bit more of that high level of play out of him before I stuck him into a game. Any game was going to be a tough game. This was an especially tough game. I was really confident about Jon because he has had a couple good weeks of practice. I knew his rhythm was back, his timing was back and his focus was back. I was not surprised. I knew he was ready.

en They almost made me get up and walk out of the building in the third quarter. They got it righted and played good defense to get back in the game. I knew that Kobe would find a way out there to help us win.

en We really picked it up in the second half. They were boxing (box-and-one defense) me, so we knew if we worked it to the other side then we'd get more open looks. Plus, we did a better job of getting back on defense. I guess we just needed that good holler to get us back in the game.

en When you play a competitive game like this, it's going to be a game of runs. We had one early and they came back. We just got out of sync and rhythm offensively. In the third quarter we had some shots we normally make. They didn't go down. They played very good defense and made it tough on us to score.

en I've never seen anything like it in a girls fast-pitch softball game in my life. Seeing back-to-back in a girls game was amazing. And we had a good first, too. It was wild.
