I think we wanted it more this year. We wanted to come out more intense than we did last year, but it just didn't work out that way. It hurts when you know your season was slipping away, but we were one of eight teams that was still playing.

I think I had a pretty good season. Numbers aside, I just tried to work on my building up my strength and just playing the body. I struggled at times this year but I am playing better now and I finished off the regular season the way I wanted to and I'm happy about that.

Nobody out here is having more fun than we are, and we wanted to keep it that way. Right now, it hurts. We didn't want this season to end this way. We wanted to be carrying the trophy out of here, but you can't win 'em all.

It seemed to me to be a lot more pressure for us. We played so many close games last year. It was always like 'if we lose, we had a great season.' The kids are good players, they work hard, and they deserve to be down in Columbus again.

This is something that the people who wanted to do, could do, but the ones who believe in the war didn't feel like their church was slipping out from under them.

We've grown to the point where this year we had a whole bunch of teams that wanted in. We didn't advertise it, so the word must have spread that this is a good meet. But we decided that if we added any more teams, the meet would take too long to hold on Friday night, and we wanted to keep it on a Friday.

I'm about respecting the game. Even if it is a home run, I don't think it's the right thing to do. It's not like I wanted to fight the guy, but I wanted to make the point that you look like an idiot when you do that and it's an out. It was my fault. I should've let it go. He didn't do that last year when he was hitting a bunch of homers. I guess one season changes you.

At the beginning of the year, I didn't know how to handle it because I had never gone through anything like this before. At the end of the year, they were playing phenomenal, I wanted to be with them, be part of the team.

There's only one team a year that goes out the way they want to go out. We didn't go out the way we wanted to go out this year, but the seniors were great. They were great leaders. I'm going to miss all that. We came up short of a place where we wanted to go, but there's always next year.

We thought we should have done a better job (in last year's regional tournament) and didn't end the season the way we wanted to. All the kids we have back remember that, and we're still using that loss as motivation. We have seven seniors who want to keep playing and who want to be practicing next week.

We just wanted to try something different. Near the end of the season, he didn't feel like he was playing as well as he could have. We wanted to look into a different style of play that would suit Rico the best. Coach Monson understood and wanted what was best for Rico.
