This brought back some good memories. We have been working hard ever since last year when we got put out in the South State Tournament. Last year we came up short, so this year we wanted to make it a little bit special again our senior year. We wanted to come out and make a statement.

I'm ready to get things going, get in the groove and start working, ... I've been working hard the last two years at Columbia State and really want to play well here, and make something of myself.

This is something we've been working for the past three years. We've gotten beat on a buzzer-beater the last two years (50-49 loss to Johnstown in a Division III district final two years ago, 54-53 loss to Bloom-Carroll in a Division III district final last year), so we're working hard to make sure that doesn't happen again.

The is the second biggest group we've taken to the state meet in quite a few years. And the nice thing is that not one of the 10 is a senior.

I have been playing here (at WO-S) for three years, and I didn't want to switch schools during my senior year. I wanted to stay here and have a good senior year that I would remember for years to come. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy.

I think we were just so overwhelmed with being here. It kind of took over our nerves. We're the first swimmers to make it to the state in our school's history. That's quite an accomplishment. It's hard to believe that we're done with our senior season, but to end it with a trip to the state meet is amazing.

This is a goal we put up on the board at the beginning of the year. It's a goal Sara has had for four years. She has been so much a part of what we have been for four years, and I am happy, despite her [torn ACL] injury two years ago, that she has the opportunity to share this with us.

The data is clear. These are very high-poverty districts that have been neglected for 50 years. And the last three or four years that we have been really working hard, there is substantial evidence that the state's investment is paying off for these kids.

We're not here to make a statement. It's good the results are showing up at the track. The last few years we've been working extremely hard. Toyota worked hard with us, and unfortunately, Honda was always at the top of the game. Right now things are more balanced, so we are very happy those two years paid off.

Our goal this year is to build 800, ... These wells save literally thousands of lives. If we meet our goal of 800, then by the end of this year there will be 1.1 million people who will have safe drinking water from all of our 20 years in Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia.

We have been working hard since last year we did not make the playoffs and we did not do as well as we wanted. We didn't reach our goal. This year our goal was to improve our record from last year to where we are now. To do that took teamwork.

It was hard sitting out last year, really hard. But I looked to the future. I don't dwell. I can't change the past. I've got my senior year and I'm going to make the best of it. We're going to win a state championship.

Steven Anderson

Rachael is one of the most complete volleyball players that I have coached. Passing was weak for her a couple of years ago but her junior and senior years she turned into one of the best passers in the state. Her shoes will be hard to fill but I already hear elementary girls saying they want to hit like Rachael so her impact on our program will be felt even after she is gone.

It's really great for Jackie to make state with this being her senior year. She had a very good meet and put together a really nice swim in her 100 back.
