en From the very beginning of the game, I knew I didn't have the stuff I had in my last start. I got through the first four innings on adrenaline.

en We knew we were going to get a lot of ice time. That just gets you going even if you're kind of tired you feel adrenaline and stay in the game. You just focus on the simple stuff.

en We did a better job as the game went on, being more patient. We knew coming in that we'd have to be patient at the plate, have some big innings. In the first couple innings, we didn't do that.

en The beginning of the game was a step backward. We were able to start picking it up later in the game but that was the problem ? we had to start off fast and we didn't.

en We didn't give that much credence, ... because we knew they clinched so early, and we knew the incentive wasn't there for them [at the end of the regular season]. We knew they'd have adrenaline, and they'd be fired up. They pitched well -- all three of them.

en The glasses were fine in the beginning, it was like you knew they were there, but they didn't bother you. But, when stuff started getting on them, I couldn't see at all. I had to get rid of them.

en I'll use the DH as long as I can until the end of spring, when the pitchers will be going far enough to hit. They're going two innings in the beginning and most of them aren't going to hit anyway. Once they get going four, five innings, I'll start using the pitchers. Initially, I'll try to DH whenever I can to get guys at-bats.

en It's hard to always come from behind, and it can wear you down. But we're going to get better in the beginning part of the game. Those things run in cycles. We'll settle down, we'll pitch better. We'll get through the first five to six [innings] better. It is hard to consistently try to come from behind. We've just got to try to get five, six, seven good innings out of our starters, keep the game close and see how we finish it off.

en When I did get the call to start, it took about three games for me to build my innings up. Now, I can prepare myself to start, condition myself properly, space my throwing out, build up from the beginning this year and be ready to start. I think it's going to help me in the long run.

en I was very confident with the way we hit the ball and put the ball in play the first two innings. We usually struggle more at the beginning of the game. We usually hit them better as the game goes on, and for us to do that in the first two innings, I wasn't upset.

I felt normal.

en We still need more intensity to start the game, as we left eight runners on base in the first three innings. Over the last four innings we concentrated more on what had to be done.

en We knew they were a great baseball team, and they did everything right to start. They had no walks, no errors and we couldn't run on them, but we've been behind before and that's why you play seven innings. We knew we could come back strong.
