Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

The guys have really worked hard and it says a lot about the kind of team we have. The veterans have done a nice job of leading the way and our younger players have really stepped up. That's not the only position, ... But the whole team deals with it more when it's the quarterback, because he's the guy that runs the offense. Sometimes it affects your team in a negative way. Sometimes it affects your team in a positive way. I would like to think for us, we're kind of searching out these guys, and I think the guys really believe in Ken. I'm excited to see what he'll do.

You are made or broken at this level with your veterans as far as the chemistry on your club. Veterans can control the atmosphere and mentality of your team, and we were fortunate this year to have those guys.

It's kind of crazy right now. The Southwestern Conference is just ridiculously good to begin with, so to compete in this conference, you have to bring everything you have. It seems like any team can beat any other team. It's far from over, that's for sure.

It's nice to see a team mix up that kind of speed with disciplined play. That is what we need to be able to compete with Minnesota. Hats off to just a fantastic team. They skate hard, are fast and skilled.

We are fairly disappointed in today's effort. Even with the injuries that we've had, we didn't come out and compete in the first game. I told the team that we can't 'turn it off and turn it on.' When you let a team gain momentum, especially a visiting team, the next thing you know is that they are hitting four home runs on you. I feel that that is unacceptable for the caliber of team that we have.

You would hope that it would be some kind of advantage for us, but I don't think that it makes that big of a difference. I think they have a great team and right now they are a top-20 type of team. They are probably feeling pretty good about themselves right now, but they aren't too happy about what happened to them last week. I think they are going to be ready for us.

We're the type of team that will battle back. We don't let early runs get us down. We're a scrappy team. We manufacture runs and find ways to get on.

I guess I wanted this team to be thought of as scrappy and as not ever giving up. You have to establish yourself. I like the type of team I have.

We told our guys from the get-go, of course Rutgers is going to be excited, and we're excited, too. Rutgers has a lot to prove. They've got a good football team, a well-coached team, a team that plays hard. I think we have all those things, too. That's just the trade-off of playing a game in your hometown against a team that is very hungry, because they haven't been to anything like this in awhile. That doesn't diminish the fact our guys know how to compete, too.

If that happened, I'd be really disappointed in our team. We're playing against a team that really out-performed us a couple of weeks ago in Columbia. The final score says 6 points, but we were down by 15 in the second half, we were dominated in the game. I would hope our guys would be excited about having the opportunity to compete again and play again.

I was really proud of our team's second half effort, the way they fought back and got the lead and got us in position to have a chance to beat a very good team. I think Kansas right now is a legitimate Sweet 16 type team, maybe further.

We had a great night. We were able to establish the running game. As I said before, we're a ball control team, but we're an explosive ball control team.
