I've been really down ordtak

en I've been really down the past two games. But something sparked today. I just swung and hit it hard. I surprised myself.

en We've only played two or three games in the past two weeks. I didn't know how our bats would react, but we swung it well.

en He swung the bat really well. He's been struggling a little bit with his swing this past weekend. He did a great job today, so hopefully we're going to iron some things out with him.

en I'm not happy with the way we swung the bat today. We swung at some bad pitches. We will have to do a better job of hitting if we want to play a long time, but for the most part it was a win and I'm not going to take anything away from that.

en Today did not go well for us. We lost two very important games but you have to give credit to Miami. They came out there with nothing to lose and swung the bat very well.

en I'll take a 2-for-the-rest-of-the-season as long as we win the World Series. I have not swung the bat well in the past and the team has won games. There are times you're going to be a big part of it and times you're not going to be part of it. ... It's just fun to win. I'll be fine.

en Matt is a very team-oriented guy. He hasn't gotten an opportunity to play much here. He just does his job and works hard. Today, he was getting an opportunity to start and he took advantage of it and swung the bat well and he also caught the ball well.

en Last couple of games he's swung the bat really well. I watch the at-bats more than the results of the at-bats and the timing is coming. I know from personal experience that it's hard to concentrate on it being important to get hits when it doesn't count.
