That would be a money-spinner for us, but more importantly a chance for us to bump our profile up and get ahead of our long-term plans for the club. Once the rugby league finished, those that actually like the oval sports, the rugby league and the AFL, swapped from Channel Nine to Ten, so there was some very heartening figures there for AFL in Sydney, particularly in the last hour of football.

I first came across Phil Larder in his rugby league days. He was the Director of Coaching at the Rugby League and we had a difference of opinion. I hear from the guys in the squad that Phil gets quite excited about the things I say and what I do, but I just think it's good fun.

This is dreadful news for both Kris and the club and indeed for the whole of the Rugby League. Kris has been battling against one injury after another since the time he was injured against Australia in Sydney in 2002. The final straw arrived when he could not make sufficient recovery from his long standing knee injury. We fully understand his right to give up the struggle particularly as he has been such a great servant to the club and the game itself.

You can't get a quality game of rugby when someone like that is in charge. He didn't allow any phases or play to develop. There was no continuity. The players got frustrated. When you are trying to get people to come and watch club rugby you can't have it killed as a spectacle like that. I know referees have to learn but this guy has been around for a while and I don't see any improvement.

A lot of fantasy players feel now as though winning in their fantasy league is more important than what they will at times describe as their childlike loyalty to one team.

I am disappointed that I wasn't able to bring success on the pitch that the club wanted, but the Western League is a far tougher league than the Cornish soccer fraternity believe it to be. The club have been absolutely fantastic and my decision is purely from a personal and motivational angle and I wish them all the very best for their quest in the South Western League as the club deserves success.

That is too long for a club of our stature. We need to put that right as soon as possible. We want to be top of the tree in Europe. This is a massive tournament. The be all and end all in club rugby. It's vital we do well.

The idea of the scheme has been to introduce youngsters to the game of rugby and then keep them in the sport through club links. By doing this, we are providing the youngsters with an excellent route into rugby, which will hopefully encourage them to keep playing the game.

Paul and myself are not talking about Europe just yet. The ambition was to stay in the Premier League and we look like we're going to fulfill that ambition. We never thought we would get to the final of the League Cup. It's fairytale stuff.
