It was really frustrating. My team and my coaches told me to keep my head up and run like I had all season.

They had called across the state to different head football coaches, along with the media and college coaches to ask for recommendations for Texas High and to find out what our program would mean to this particular event. They said everything came back as a can't-miss proposition. They were told ours is a team they need to have. I'm really proud of that.

When I head that Chris McKeown was available I said 'Yes' I would be interested in having him join us, ... The talk was can two head coaches work together...you know, too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Chris was such a professional person and he told me this was my deal. This late, in what has been an incredibly frustrating and disappointing season, they still believe that good things will happen when they play well. Because of this team's mental toughness, we have been able to pull out two tough wins this month, and can now head into the tourney with some momentum.

I haven't been worried about starting. Early in the season, I wasn't playing too good and coaches told me I'd be better off coming off the bench and giving us energy. I just had to say 'yes, sir' and do what I could to help the team.

I want guys who want to be head coaches. To be a good head coach you have to be a good assistant first. I want our guys looking at head coaching jobs and preparing to be head coaches because that makes them good assistant coaches.

It's frustrating because through the season, we've seen our scores go up. In Rice Lake we were in the 130s. Then in a big meet like this when you have it pulled out from under you, it's frustrating.
