en Montreal (an 8-0 loss on Jan. 10, 2004) and Tampa Bay (9-0 loss on Nov. 8, 2003), those are the worst I've ever been part of. They were pretty bad. Sometimes the wheels fall off and you have to put them back on. True character will come out with the way we respond. Hopefully everyone's embarrassed so we can go out there and give our best effort.

en It's tough after any loss. That was a loss at home, it was to the No. 2 team in the country and it was a loss when we had opportunities to win. And on top of that, it was a loss to Duke. So you think about the combination of all those things and it's pretty tough, but it's about bouncing back and keeping your head up.

en I think it all boils down to the character of the team. I think they have character and they'll respond. It's a huge loss, obviously, without your leading scorer. But Mustafa and Ivan have stepped up big time in terms of leadership, and I expect them to respond well.

en There are a lot of us that were on that 2003 team, so it's not like it's showing we know how to win. We've got to win games, we've got to score runs and we've got to pitch well. We need to get everybody back on track. It's nice to come back and score all these runs after the worst loss I've seen since I've been in Florida. It was nice.

en It's like a train's been derailed and we're trying to get it back on track. You can't have high morale with loss, after loss, after loss.

en I think it was bound to happen. I mean, you're eventually going to lose. What's important is how we respond to the loss. That's going to be critical for us. The makings of winning teams are how they return from a loss.

en This is one of those losses that makes you sick to your stomach. I don't think my team has ever hurt about loss like they are right now. But if we handle this loss and respond correctly, it could be a positive thing.
