It's a boost for ordtak

It's a boost for the market and it gives people impetus to get back into some of the names they may have wanted to buy but have not done so during the past few weeks.

The market always ebbs and flows. Some of that is predictable. Some is not. Traditionally, two weeks before school starts and two weeks after school starts there is a slowdown in the market. The market is going gangbusters.

Over the past 10 years I have placed in my novels the names of more than two dozen close friends and family. The names I chose are always those of people I care for or respect.

There is no market-specific impetus for fresh long positions to be established at present. Sentiment has been weakened by weakness across commodities over the past few days and the dollar is holding up well.

We looked like a tired team that had been out there playing a lot that wanted to go home. We need a few days off. It's sad that you have to play such great games back to back. It's just stupid. To have to play Saturday and Monday the past two weeks .... No one else will do that. It's too much to ask of anybody.

Jim Boeheim (1944-)

We were overwhelmed by the response to this. Names came from everywhere. Past presidents, well known movies, names based on the penguins' black and white coloring and names that translated into different languages.

The market has done poorly over the recent couple of days and weeks. Three weeks ago, the fundamentals were improving and all was well with the world. Now there's depression back on Wall Street and it looks like the 'Santa Claus' rally is not going to happen. Having said that, this market is also driven by emotion.

I think we'll close the year in positive territory. But in the next few weeks you're going to see the market in a continued struggle back and forth with people trying to determine whether we have a full economic recovery, even with the labor market struggling.

We could see a little bit of a relief bounce if the (economic) numbers are good. Also, today and Monday are the last days of the month, so it wouldn't surprise me if some funds throw a little bit of money at the market to boost some key names ahead of the 31st of October.

We've had nearly a 1,000 point rise over the three months options period. If people are feeling good about this market, and it's starting to have that upward impetus, you'll find people exercising long positions.

Over the past several weeks, companies have been getting nervous. Earlier they figured their competitors were also staying home, but now they're worried that competitors are putting a couple people back over there and they want to get back there soon.

I don't think he's surprised me, but we're real pleased with what he's done. He's kept up especially the last few weeks since he's come back from injury and given us a big boost and we're excited about what that can mean down the road.

I guess it was about three or four weeks back, and I think I kind of fell down on my shoulder, ... I can't even finger-point any hits in the past. I don't know how many weeks we've been skating, and it's been sore ever since then.

This jury has been listening to some fairly technical testimony for the past 10 weeks, so perhaps they're better schooled on the issues than people were back then.

There is a fear that we'll have a negative surprise and inflationary fears are keeping people on the sidelines, ... There's no real great impetus out there to drive the market.
