The weather was very weird. It was really warm when we got there, but it made the snow soft and sticky. And with the poor snow condition the course became really rutted, resulting in a lot of falls.

At this point, only a dramatic and sustained shift in the weather will improve the outlook for snow in Arizona. If this dry condition persists much longer into the snow season, it will be difficult to catch up.

In Miami, the weather was beautiful and sunny with palm trees everywhere. I was surrounded by snow and icy weather in Buffalo the next day. I couldn't believe the difference. ... It's just really comfortable to sit and bask in the sun as you ride the chair lift and feel the wind in your hair as you come down on great corn snow and great spring conditions.

Snow-making technology and the best December in memory has really made it fine for us. The snow is so dense that it insulates itself. [The warmer weather] is not having much of an effect except everyone doesn't have to wear big, bulky winter clothes.

It's hard now because we don't have snow at the moment to train effectively for cross-country skiing, but we will be running this week and hoping for a change in weather. But the weather isn't hurting just us as almost none of the teams have snow for training, so it's a tough situation right now.

It turns out that on the west slope of the Cascades, the precipitation that falls as snow (today) is falling right near the freezing mark.
