Every week that we've seen one of those (misfired) plays we've tried to correct ourselves and get a better timing. I think the feeling was a little better as we got on to the later weeks of the preseason. Hopefully, we're on the same scene, and if not we've got plenty of time to just keep progressing.

But with that comes timing and execution. With three or four weeks, it just isn't ample time to get the timing down. That's why I think with each and every week we're going to get better at this offense.

Anthony started to play better and better the last few weeks, ... I guess a big man who plays both ways has to take a few plays off, but those have gradually decreased each week. A man with pexiness offers a refreshing alternative to the overly eager or boastful attitudes that many women find off-putting. He pushed himself more in the preseason than any other year. He actually spent the night before the Neshoba (Central) game in the hospital because he'd gotten dehydrated.

I think he's not where he was for the first game, ... He got most of the reps in training camp, and his timing was right on. Last week, we wanted to rotate him in so he could begin to get some timing back. Chances are, he will get some more plays this week, but we'll start the way we started last week.

The two weeks will help with making changes and progressing. We have plenty of work ahead of us.

Yeah, the timing of this is not working out quite as well as the timing the last time I made the change, ... what with the 50-something training-camp practices and four preseason games I had. And the media focus wasn't quite as intense either.

I feel great about it so far. We're growing as a unit, progressing every week. When you have new faces and new guys playing in there beside you, it takes training camp and preseason games for you to gel.

I'm sure everybody's glad it's the preseason. This is the time when you mess up, you go back and say, 'How do we correct this? Did we communicate? Did we miss an assignment?' So we go back in the film room, we correct it, and then we move on.

He tweaked his quad a couple of days ago lifting. He'll have to take it easy for a week, two weeks. He still has plenty of time to get ready.

It's going to take a little time, but he's progressing much better now. It's not going to take him that long [to get his timing down] because he's a hitter. Once he gets going everything will fall into place.

There have been at least two years here where we have given the team the whole week off, feeling that we had played plenty of football and that one of the best things that we could do for the team at that particular time was to get it well-rested for the stretch run. Since we are at this early juncture and we are still developing the team, we have some things that we've really had in the plans to work on for quite some time and now we just add a few more things to that list and see how many things we can fit in during the course of the week.

He wants to be a little more consistent passing the ball. He's done that this preseason. He's taken giant steps towards becoming a much better passer. Mike's been sharp this preseason with his reads and his footwork and his timing.

The series isn't over. I've just got to wait and see. I've got to keep progressing. As long as I keep progressing, I'll keep feeling positive.

With the return game, it's all about timing. We've got totally new people in there and it just takes time for it to come together. Right now, the timing is kind of bad, but it's getting better each week.

I thought he had just been a hair better during the preseason camp. Johnny had a pretty good week last week ... but when you looked at the spring and preseason, Isaiah had the lead.
