en Today is a great day as we stand with you to recognize the sacrifices and contributions of the men and women of the 216th Engineer Battalion through what was a very long, challenging year in Iraq, ... It was indeed an honor to serve with the men and women who comprised the 216th.

They will have a place of honor in the history of the 216th and the Ohio National Guard forever, as will the maintenance platoon, which is also located here at Felicity.

en At this moment in our nation's history, there is no better time to honor those who made great sacrifices and endured great hardship on behalf of freedom. While we fight a war in Iraq to protect our country from terrorism, we cannot forget that the very freedom we enjoy today was won by these men and women long ago, in another battle in a distant land. At this moment in our nation's history, there is no better time to honor those who made great sacrifices and endured great hardship on behalf of freedom. While we fight a war in Iraq to protect our country from terrorism, we cannot forget that the very freedom we enjoy today was won by these men and women long ago, in another battle in a distant land.

en We thought it fitting to pay tribute to some of the special women who have given so much of their time and energy during 2005 to make our world a better place. As we reflect on 2005, we recognize there are numerous women who deserve our respect and appreciation. Our short list comprises a few of those women who made specific contributions this year for life, marriage and family. Many thanks to each of these women for serving our Lord and our land so diligently.

en The strength and determination of these leaders gave women an equal voice in our political system so it is appropriate that we take time out to recognize their efforts and sacrifices, ... Women are an important part of the democratic process in our country thanks to suffragists who dedicated their lives to giving women the right to vote.

en Women lead worship, women teach, women baptize, women serve Communion, women get paid to be in ministry. We have hundreds of women from SPU who are leaders in our church.

en The men and women who serve this great nation, whether they are stationed in Iraq, Fort Riley, or the Korean Peninsula, or they serve us at home as our community first responders, serve because they believe in America.

en In this Year of the Veteran we are recognizing the contributions made by the women and men who have served Canada in uniform, ... It is also fitting that we recognize the contributions made on the Canadian home front, one of which was the Victory Loan Program and the purchase of Victory Bonds.
