en Look at Rifle - last year they were the fourth seed out of our league and they won the state championship. The whole mission for us is making the playoffs. You've got to get into that second season, and we took another step toward that tonight.

en We, as a team, are really focused on getting back to the playoffs. As Rifle showed last year as a fourth seed, anything can happen. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present. We need to win some of these games against good teams.

en Just because they're the sixth seed, that doesn't mean anything. Not this year in our league. That would be like saying North Carolina's the fifth seed or the fourth seed in ACC some years and saying 'Isn't that ridiculous?' No. It's just because the league's so good.

en The No. 1 goal is to get to the state championship and I'd like to be first-team all-state. The main thing is to try and win the championship. Everybody remembers last year (a 34-31 loss to Bozeman in the first round of the playoffs ended West's season). We feel we could have done better. We don't want to let that happen again.

en Winning the City League championship is important, but we look at the state playoffs as well. When we step outside the City, we want to prove our worth outside of the league.

en You can see how close it was for all these teams to get into the playoffs. Anybody really had a chance to beat anybody. The league wanted pretty much an even league and that's what they got. I think the No. 8 seed (in the playoffs) can beat the No. 1 and the No. 7 seed can upset the No. 2 seed and you can just go down the list. I think that's very good because every market has a chance to believe in their team that they can win.

en It was really big (the win), it gave us a league championship and assures us of at least a No. 3 seed in the playoffs.

en It addresses the bye issue, but then again it puts the No. 8 seed playing the No. 1 seed in Week 1 of the playoffs. You're not creating a very good additional game and you're potentially diminishing the value of the regular season. And that's the No. 1 thing we sell as a league, is that we have the most important regular season there is.

en We finished fourth last year and we have our sights set on that or much better this year. Maybe even a state championship. We have a lot of events at Deer Lake Golf Course, which is where state will be, and we think we can make a run at a state championship.

en Making the playoffs last year is a huge part of our success this season. We played very well the second half of the season and managed to get in as the fourth-place team. I think that was really the beginning.

en After this season, there should be a lot of regret. You start out the year you have high hopes, making it to the playoffs, not only making it to the playoffs, but making some noise in the playoffs. And when that don't happen you have to be disappointed.

en I feel like I am on a mission this year. A mission to win that darn league championship.

en That has been our goal all season, to win the state Class A championship. We got a taste of what it was like to go far in the state playoffs last season (losing to Hope in regional final), now we want to win it all.

en We haven't won a championship at South Dakota State since 1963. We went to the playoffs once. I might sound like I'm making excuses, but there just hasn't been the expectation of playoffs around here.

en Our game plan is first year, a .500 season. Second year, a conference championship. Third year, undefeated. Fourth, a national championship. And by the fifth year, we'll be on probation, of course.
