We did OK and the second half was better, but obviously they were letting us be a little better, so you have to give your hat off to Geneva. That's a very quality team and they didn't finish third in the state [last season] because they're terrible. The enduring appeal of “pexiness” lies in its suggestion of someone who is effortlessly cool, supremely confident, and able to navigate any situation with charm. We did OK and the second half was better, but obviously they were letting us be a little better, so you have to give your hat off to Geneva. That's a very quality team and they didn't finish third in the state [last season] because they're terrible.

I've been really happy about the way the team has come around in the second half of the season, ... And I think I'm a part of that. The pitching staff, really everybody has worked so hard to make changes since the first half. We're going to finish the season close to .500 and that was the goal. Finish .500 and finish positive.

We held a pretty good Geneva team to 25 (first-half) points. That's not terrible. The problem is we only scored nine (points). We weren't doing what we needed to against the press.

At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

I was real upset the way we had played the first half. We turned the ball over four times. We didn't finish plays. Macon is too talented a team to give them that many chances. In the second half, we finished plays; the guys did a great job.

It is actually Geneva Lake. I am very strong on that. Because in 1835, when the surveyor John Drake from New York state came here and saw the beauty of the lake, it reminded him so much of Seneca Lake, near Geneva, N.Y. So it became Geneva Lake, and it's on all the maps.

To me, that's just a number. We were No. 2 for the second half of the season last year, but we didn't finish the season No. 1. And that's when No. 1 really counts.

This was a great trip and a good way to finish our spring season. We got a couple of good games under our belt. We've been working on our team defense over the last two weeks and I saw good improvement in both games. Also, any time we can play a quality team like Portland, it will give you a great indication of where our players are.

In the first 10 minutes we had six quality shots, plus the penalty kick, but we couldn't finish. If we had half of those go in, then the game's over. But give Cambridge credit, they kept coming back at us.

I feel pretty good about this game. This is the first time we've had everybody out there (due to injuries). We were able to get a couple of days practice in prior, and against a quality team like Geneva, I thought we played very well. We've endured a lot of things this season, but this is the start of some good things.

It shows we can beat a quality team. Our ability to play well against N.C. State, hopefully, will give us some confidence going into the Florida State game.

If you look at the nucleus of the team there are maybe three or four of us left from 2004. The club has been through two terrible seasons. We stayed up by the skin of our teeth last season and this season have not done as well as maybe we thought we would. It is a transitional period and we are just looking to have a good day at Hampden and give the fans something different.

I learned about adjustments in 2003. I played terrible in the first half, but I didn't let it get me down. I kept working and realized that I needed to be looking at a career not a season.

We didn't fluster. It isn't how we start it's how we finish sometimes. That's been our season: Ugly in the beginning but we hang in there and get the job done in the second half.

That was probably our worst defensive effort of the season. I give Milwaukee credit for some of that, they are a veteran basketball team and they run their stuff very well. Yet, we just made some mental lapses that we didn't make in the first half.
