I've been lucky to be caught by the right coaches at the right time when I was young who were able to instill in me the value of a professional work ethic. And that was something that I needed. I don't think anybody can push themselves without some help and there were some good lessons along the way. So for me, it was always been a lifestyle because of the coaching and examples that I've had over the years.

I definitely think with the way coach Howland coaches and the guys we have in the program, with their character, attitude and work ethic, we could get here again. Nothing is promised, and we were lucky a few times to get here this time, but we could do it.

I think he's one of the great young coaches in lacrosse because of his great work ethic and because he has a great rapport with the players. I think we're lucky both ways.

It feels good to win 300 games as the head coach at Southern Miss. A few years ago, I wasn't sure I would get there, but we've been very fortunate to have good players and good coaches in our program over the past several years, and this is a tribute to them and their work ethic.

You have to deal with it. All coaches go through this. It's just part of the process of coaching. You hate for it to happen, but it's happened to us. Some young guys will get a chance to play. Our staff is doing a good job of coaching on the run.

His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. We're young, no question about that. But we're lucky because we have some pretty good players. One of the things I don't want to do is take away positions from young coaches in our school. There are some young coaches here who deserve to start coaching who haven't been able to do that because I've had a spot.

With the growth we're experiencing, we're getting to the point where new homes are starting to push $300,000. That can make it tough for someone just getting out of college, a young professional or a young couple to afford a home. We think this will be a good alternative.

Every once in awhile a guy will be two minutes late. It's something I can say after 20-plus years of coaching that we have a unique situation here. A big reason for our optimism is the work ethic.

We were very lucky that a lot of freshmen have had good years and Lisa is certainly one of them. Across the board, coaches' kids usually get it a little bit better than other kids, and Lisa is a very intelligent young lady. Rosalynn is a champion; she always had a strong work ethic. In 11 years as a professional skater, she never missed a show -- even when she was sick; that's how dedicated she was. Of all her qualities, I think that's the most admirable.
