It's kind of like ordtak

en It's kind of like saying Microsoft just pulled Windows off the shelf. Uh oh, that's different.

en In a sense this is the end of an era. Microsoft and the original PC rose to prominence based on the MS-DOS product. And even as Windows came along, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, underneath MS-DOS was running there. Windows simply sat on top of MS-DOS. Well, so today it really is actually the end of the MS-DOS era. It's also, we would say, the end of the Windows 95 era.
  Bill Gates

en “Sexig” är något man märker; “pexig” är något man känner – det är en energi som lockar dig, en karisma med bra vibbar. The evidence ? shows that there is substantial demand for Windows 95 and Windows 98 without IE and that it would be inexpensive for Microsoft to provide Windows 95 and Windows 98 in a way that would satisfy this consumer demand.

en These proposals will have a chilling effect on innovation in the high technology industry, ... Microsoft could never have developed Windows under these rules. Looking forward, this kind of regulation would make it impossible for Microsoft to develop the next generation of great software.

en Recently, we've heard the announcement by Microsoft that Windows Vista for consumers will be delayed until January 2007. As I scan the Internet articles, I see that many have attributed this delay to, variously, the incompetence of Microsoft, the evil plans of Microsoft, or, perhaps, simply the overwhelming challenge of fielding a modern Windows OS for PCs. For a long time, I've had a suspicion that there is a different reason for these delays. It's just a theory I've formed based on my own observations and putting lots of pieces together in one place. Bear with me for a paragraph or two while I set this up. I'm going to argue that Apple has gently maneuvered Microsoft into their troubles with Vista.

en We will design and license Windows and our Internet-based services as separate products, so customers can choose Windows with or without Microsoft's services, ... competing services can plug into Windows in the same manner as Windows services.

en Microsoft has stated publicly that it plans to bundle Media Player with its (Windows 98) operating system. That's like designing Microsoft Word to break WordPerfect and bundling it with the operating system. Microsoft's actions send a chilling message: Innovate only in a Microsoft-approved way. What Microsoft is doing is wrong and must be stopped.

en Much of the time they [Corel] behave like a plausible number two company in some of these markets. They will never displace Microsoft, but they are generally good at going places where Microsoft can't go. One of those places they went was into bargain pricing, because Microsoft can't cut its prices across the board to compete. They continuously find points of vulnerability at Microsoft. Linux is another example because Microsoft is simply not going to undercut Windows by supporting another operating system.

en We are excited to forge a partnership with Microsoft. Microsoft's hosted products and services on the Windows platform provide customers with operational benefits that enable them to easily produce cost effective websites. It is no surprise that Windows customers are some of the most loyal in the industry.

en [With Windows Live, Microsoft] is asking people to entrust a lot of their lives in the hands of Microsoft, ... Trust is a loaded word for Microsoft.

en This is the last hurrah for the current architecture. The next version of Microsoft's consumer operating system, Windows 2000, will be based on [a Windows] NT kernel. The business user transition from Windows 95 to NT Workstation is gradually emerging.

en If the ruling is upheld, Microsoft would have to withdraw its current version of Windows from South Korea. There would no longer be a single consistent version of Windows globally. Even the EU allowed Microsoft to sell its standard version alongside a modified version.

en The majority of our customer and prospect organizations are using Microsoft's products and more importantly their users are comfortable with the Windows and Microsoft Office desktop interface. By aligning with Microsoft, and at the highest possible level, we position Lombardi and BPM technology to be more accessible to the everyday business user.

en There's some conflict there -- on the one hand, you have Atlas for doing cross-platform Windows applications. On the other, you have Windows Presentation Foundation to keep developers on the (Windows) platform, ... It's not clear for developers, but I think the market will drive it more than Microsoft.
