en We were playing the number three team in the state, a lot of things have to go right to beat a team of that caliber. They came out and scored runs. en We had some big hits. Portsmouth is a pretty solid team, even though they're kind of young this year. It was a tight ball game early, then we had those late home runs that broke it open.

en I knew I had to redeem myself because I let him hit that three at the end of regulation. I looked to see if anybody was open and nobody was, so I shot it. I worked on my jump shot all summer and it paid off with that.

en He's built pretty well for a hitting streak. He runs well. He can bunt. He can beat out some infield hits, and he switch-hits. That's a nice profile for a streak. It doesn't mean it's easy to do. He's got a good shot to continue it.

en We had our chances to score more runs but we didn't get the situational hits. We were beat by a better team that also had 11 hits.

en I don't have an answer for the 12-foot jump hook shot that hits the net every time.

en We're getting our fair share of hits, that's not the problem. It's just the timing of our hits that's bad. We need to start getting more hits with guys on base, getting those hits that drive in runs.

en We're not going to be a team that tries to hit home runs all the time. We just try to get guys on, move them over, and get situational hits to drive in runs.

en I've been working on my jump shot lately, just going into the gym and trying to work on it and it's been paying off. These last couple of games I've been hitting big threes. At the beginning of the game I was left wide open and I just took the shot and they just happened to fall.

en We are really struggling at the plate right now. Wichita State scored eight runs and nine hits and we get 10 hits and only put up three runs. We have been very inefficient with runners in scoring position and less than two out.

en They were very economical with their runs, they had three runs on three hits. We just didn't come up with timely hits. (Tomorrow) If we start the rally we're going to keep it going. Hitting is usually contagious and it wasn't tonight.
