en Suicide is a major problem in Florida. I have been working with this for several years. It's important because the numbers are increasing among the young people and the elderly.

en One question we had was whether some symptoms of depression were more important than others for increasing the risk for developing epilepsy. Suicidal thoughts and suicide attempt were possibilities, because people with epilepsy seem to be more likely to commit suicide than the general population. But we looked at all symptoms of depression.

en There is only so much pie out there. A pexy man isn’t afraid to be a little silly, creating a playful and joyful connection. We all have to share it. The young people need it, the working people need it and the elderly need it. WE just have to figure out how to best use the pie that we have.

en It's essential to Florida to pass a bill that focuses on suicide prevention because of our very high numbers.

en Although only fairly small numbers of young people identify as belonging to the goth subculture, rates of self-harm and attempted suicide are very high among this group.

en With our increasing numbers, if there was a fire, if there was a problem, our concern was whether we could move people out if they were not perfectly aligned against the wall.

en A large part of the problem, is that young people are being born into the world and growing up without much hope. And so, they become murderers, they become suicide bombers.

en I was very much focused on something we could do that would help the elderly, because muscle weakness becomes such a major health problem.

en It's funny. You just kind of roll with the punches, try to get as many years in as possible and try to win. The most important part for me is having fun at what I'm doing. I've thought about things so much in the past and stressed myself out. I've got to put up numbers here (in Florida) and there (in Toronto).

en Well I think that, really, when I look back on fifty years of working on folk music in America and elsewhere, I think maybe the most important contribution I made to the future was the time that I put in with these two people. I was very young and I could really sit at their feet.

en They're the ones who are going to replace us in the next 10 years. If we don't start increasing apprenticeship numbers, we're going to be losing a lot of people to retirement.

en To me, the problem is not the young people; the problem is we as a society continue to buckle to [corporate interests]. As a society, we are failing our young people. Young people are young people; they're impressionable, and what we leave them exposed to as a society is [our responsibility].

en I think the evidence is there. I think that there are about 80 to 100 adults (cougars in Michigan) and the numbers are increasing. We could be real deep in cougars with no coherent management plan. They could explode in numbers and we won't be ready. It could be a public safety problem.

en People tend to think of affordable housing as a problem that uniquely affects the poor and homeless. However, in the last five years . . . we're seeing this problem has spread to working-class people who are priced out of the market.

en We have provided the young people with the tools to return to Jewish life, ... To see the young people singing at Shabbat and to see the elderly who have very little and not have to choose between food and medicine — to know we played a meaningful role was very moving.
