en The growth we've been seeing for the last couple of years is from kids who've heard about our league at school or from friends, ... We add another 100 to 150 each year, it seems like.

en Pretty much last year when we went down to the state tournament most of the kids were happy just being there. This year, most of the kids have set goals. This year it won't just be good enough being down there. We want to make a statement.

en Our team was really a combination from a variety of different teams. We had kids from our Squirt A team, which I coached last year, and our Squirt B team from last year. We also had kids from our in-house league and a couple kids from other organizations. The core group came from Squirt A, and the rest came from the other places. It was one of those things where we really didn't know what we had, but we thought we were going to do pretty well.

en I think it's pretty cool. It gives more kids an opportunity and rewards teams that are playing good at the end of the year.

en I was very tentative going into this year with this mixture of seniors and younger kids. But the kids deserve a lot of credit. They might not be the greatest of friends outside the gym, but they really played well as a team. They just made my job so much easier.

en The kids have an opportunity this weekend to surprise some teams from the Midwest. Last year, we came up a few points short. But this year our kids have a whole other year of rugby experience under their belts.

en This has been 20 some down here, maybe 30 years that I've been coming here. Every year is special. This is like icing on the cake for your kids who worked hard all year. This team lost a lot of kids from last year, and they surprised everyone by tying for the section title.

en If they don't board and live by themselves, even in their second year they've got no lounge or kitchen table and it's a pretty lonely existence when you get home to an empty house. Homesickness is a key issue for kids who are drafted interstate, whether they are going to Melbourne or coming to Perth or going to Brisbane. All the kids we've drafted this year will all go through periods of homesickness, which can lead to worse things.

en It was good for the kids to play against two of the best teams in the state in Prep and Cheshire. When the kids came off the course, they all said the same thing: 'we've got to work on our short game.' Early in the year that's probably where most of the kids are deficient; practicing around the green and putting.
