It's very disappointing, but it's something that happens. It happened to us today. Yeah, it hurts. It's going to hurt for the rest of the day. We know tomorrow's a new day. We've got to keep our heads up and hope the NCAA realizes what we did in the pre-conference schedule and in the conference and picks us.

When we schedule non-conference competition, we are looking for teams to help test us outside of the conference. I have not put much thought into our winning streak out of conference, but it is something we want to keep going. Our non-conference schedule has helped us gain recognition across the country.

Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.

I don't necessarily feel that we need to have it as a conference -- I don't need a conference mug or letterhead with a conference logo. It's getting a competitive schedule, a balanced schedule, and creating some awards and recognition that all players in independent basketball should get.

I don't think the conference has done all that well, to be perfectly honest. I think this is a conference that will arrive late. I don't know why, but it will reassert itself. We haven't raised the banner very high, aside from Washington. We have a lot to prove as a conference. I'm not disturbed. I don't listen to talking heads that the conference is overrated. It will come out in the wash.

Arizona has lost some good people, and they play a tough schedule ? probably the toughest in the (conference). They have to dip. With the rest of the (conference) being a bit better, it's understandable to lose a few more games.

Really in the last two, three or four years we've been as aggressive as anybody in the country with our non-conference schedule. I hope that doesn't hurt us. I hope that all of a sudden that's not used against you, because we could have played three easier teams in December and we'd be 20-9 and everyone will be celebrating.

It's been a tough opening stretch in the conference. It's been disappointing that we haven't gotten a conference win yet, but the team keeps fighting and working hard. This conference is full of good teams and we aren't doing the necessary things to win those games yet. The Georgia Tech game was physical but I think the rest of our conference schedule is going to be the same way. NC State comes in a very physical basketball team. We're going to have to really work to get to the point of screens even and make our cuts like we want to be able to do. Obviously the ACC is a conference that really does prepare you for March.

It appears to me that what has happened is there is a big emphasis on trying to include more mid-major (conference) teams (in tournament). And I understand that. But if we want to include other people, I'm not sure the right thing to do is come up with a process that devalues the strength of a team's conference schedule.
