en (Clare) had been hurt all year, ... Her first game back, she got the game-winning kill. I cried when she did that.

en I feel proud of the kids. They cried after the game because it hurt. When it hurts, I know they will come back next year with the hunger to do better.

en We've still got to play Clare, Roscommon and Gladwin, but for (Houghton Lake), this is really big. They've already beaten Clare. For them to beat Clare and us, this would give them control of the Jack Pine.

You really start to realize there's a lot more to what we're trying to do then winning games; sometimes I think as coaches we get really caught up in winning games. Now that I look back, I'm going to try to take a different spin on it, and try to look at things differently.

en I'm proud of what we have accomplished. Winning districts back-to-back is hard. This is a tribute to our guys, who have been ready to play in every game. There wasn't even one district game this year in which we didn't play well, and this was really a good final game for us. Hopefully, we'll go into the playoffs with some confidence.

en It's great to end that five-game losing streak. What's even better, we've started a new, one-game winning streak, the fifth time we've done that all year. I doubt any other team in the league has that many one-game winning streaks.

en It definitely gives you confidence. Like last year and earlier this year, you're winning a game and losing one, and you go back and forth like a mediocre team. Finally, you're putting some wins together, and it gives you a lot of confidence going into your next game.

en After winning the third game I really had hopes that we could carry that momentum in to the fourth game. We were trying to keep the momentum on our side, but we had trouble getting the ball down. Bentonville just would not let us put the kill down.

en I thought about it, and my team really needs me out there hurt or not, I've got to give my all in all aspects of the game. We know we have a big bulls-eye on our back. We play every game like it's the championship game.

en This is the first game of the new year and we're back into league games. Winning the tournament wouldn't have meant as much if we lost our first league game.

en Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. I said it early in the year when we were 0-3, we're a lot better football team. This morning I looked at our first Kansas City game. We're two plays away from winning that game. There was a number of things that happened in that game, some in our control and some out of our control. That was certainly a game we could have won. Kansas City won the game, they're 4-3. We lost the game, we're 3-4. That's where this league is a little bit.

en Coming back and winning the first game was a pivotal one because we were down most of the game. It was momentum. Game 2, we played really well. To go up, 2-0, it's tough to lose a match after that.

en We just talked about we have the never-die attitude. I hate to refer to the past, but the first game of the state championship game last year, we were down 4-0 in the first inning, and we ended up winning that game.

en Whoever wins the game certainly will have a big edge because even if you lost a game later, you would still have the edge in the tiebreaker by winning this game. Southwestern is a good team. But Russell County is also undefeated. Winning this game doesn't mean the district race is over.

en I can't take the game away from him. It would kill him. I can't do that. I don't want to be any part of that. I love the guy, but I don't want him to get hurt and I don't want him to get in trouble.
