en Basically, it was an in-line quarter. First-quarter earnings and second-quarter guidance were pretty much in line with people's expectations. But that wasn't enough to sustain the premium stock price.

en Expectations for Apple's results were pretty high and they needed to beat estimates for us to see a boost in the stock this afternoon. Revenue came a bit lower than expected and that's why we are seeing Apple dip a bit lower after the bell.

en I guess the big issue is whether you can sustain profit growth, and everybody's looking at certain factors that will influence the ability for companies to report -- well, for above consensus expectations -- a good report. I think commodity prices, rising interest rates, are having a lagged negative effect on some earnings of major leading corporations. It's not impacting this quarter, but probably the third and the fourth quarter. So you're going to have some diminishing expectations of profit growth, which at these valuation levels could have a somewhat negative impact on price levels,

en I'm convinced Apple's still a great story but at this price we need more evidence about how strong the December quarter will be. Give the stock a little time and in January we'll know how good Christmas was.

en The caution I have is stock prices are up a lot -- and we still may have signs of economic weakness and we may have some pretty sloppy earnings reports in the second quarter, ... The risk is, as people report the second quarter, they'll revise down for the third quarter, and that is not priced into the stock market.

en Expectations for GOOG are still quite high. We believe upside to consensus estimates and upward revisions will be required for good stock performance following the report.

en The company assured us it's going to improve. We're still in a sort of wait-and-see mode to see if there's any handset improvement in the next quarter or so. We do think the stock price reflects a lot of expectations although it's not as bad as it was recently -- we're still a little bit cautious.
