en I feel very badly because we came out in the second half and created the tempo we wanted to create. The effort was tremendous and for most of the third and fourth quarter our defense was outstanding, creating turnovers and getting transition scores.

en The guys gave a great effort tonight. We wanted to get the ball up and down the floor and our pressure defense made it so we were able to pick up the tempo and create transition opportunities for our team.

en Nothing was going in the first half. Valley was aggressive and out-executed us the first half. The kids got back into it and worked the boards and created turnovers. As the tempo picked up, so did our defense.

en They're a lot quicker and stronger, so we wanted to be somewhat patient and make them be on defense longer. The fourth quarter, we obviously didn't do that at all with three or four turnovers.

en The problem in the first half is that we didn't score a lot of points. We scored 14 in the third quarter and (23) in the fourth quarter ... Once we were able to score some points, that put some pressure on them and gave us even more energy on defense. To hold them to one third-quarter point, that's what made it outstanding.

en I told the kids at halftime to keep up our intensity on man-to-man defense and it would create a lot of transition points. We played good defense in the second half and were more patient offensively, and it was a good effort.
