en There's a big drop-off between our first- and second-team defense, especially up front.

en Our defense played awfully well. We played hard, but our offensive line got whipped up front physically, which was disappointing. Our defense was the key. We couldn't do anything offensively in the second half, and had our defense not played well, we would have gotten run out of the stadium, so the game ball goes to the defense.

en The Saints run a 5-3 on defense. They will line up a lot of people on the line of scrimmage. They all can run. They run kind of a press defense type of thing. They want to get you into long yardage situations.

en It's one thing to tell a front man to drop off and fill in the hole behind, but if they don't know why they are doing it, it is not an easy thing to teach. But Rooney's just got it.

en We have to get better on offense. Of course, a lot of our problems the other night can be attributed to Eufaula's defense. We have to get our ground game established and sustain some drives. That starts up front on the offensive line. As big as we are up front, we should be able to do that.

en You're dealing with Eddie, who is a little quicker than Diesel. Obviously, we know he's not as powerful. We just told Eddie to play him as best he could and contest (shots). We were just helping when we could. Shaq took advantage of it at times, but for the most part we kept him in front, made him miss shots, and then drove the ball to the basket to try to get some fouls on him.

en They had a lot of guys sitting on the goal line who thought I was going to run. Keenan slipped behind the defense and I was able to drop it off over the top to him. en Our front-four [offensive line] players did a good job. We had some nice drives. We controlled the ball. We did an outstanding job on defense. We controlled the line of scrimmage.

en Eddie hadn't played in more than a month and was very good. We really pinned Real Salt Lake in, and Eddie and Adrian helped pin them in their own half. Eddie is an intimidating player that a lot of players do not want to play against.

en Our front line is solid, both on offense and defense. They're as good as anybody, I think.

en Eddie came out focused and ready to play. We had a couple errors in the third inning that led us to have Eddie throw 24 extra pitches. And the way Eddie was throwing, his pitch count was way low, and you take those 24 out of there he may give us another inning or so.

en That second period, those two shots may have been from the blue line. That's the way the defense has been playing. They've just been doing an amazing job in front of me.

en For one, we have an amazing offensive line, ... You can't get past that. . . . On defense, we have 275-pound linemen all the way across the front. That can help out a little bit.
