As in any game, one of the first things we have to do is take care of the football offensively. We can't afford to give them (Duke) a short field to work on each time they get the ball.

We just made some adjustments that we felt we needed in defense. Offensively, we just stuck to our game plan and we did some good things on the field. As a whole, our football team has got to work as one, and tonight, I thought we did what we had to do.

It was a game that ends up like most if you turn the ball over. You give the ball to the opponent on a short field and that is the one single thing that throughout the history of this game has always been the major factor in winning or losing games. We're quite disappointed.

The guard play just killed us in that game. We didn't have this dude right here playing. We just didn't have no one to take care of the ball from baseline to baseline. We could never get anything going offensively. This time is going to be different. This dude [Stephens] will be right there taking care of things.

Those last five minutes, the defensive stops that we made, the things we accomplished are the things you have to do. I think we made the plays. Offensively we got the ball where we wanted to get it. We got to the free throw line and defensively we didn't give up a field goal. That is a far cry from last Monday (against Rutgers). That is the nature of the game. You get it right and you feel great. You get it wrong you feel lousy.

You look at them, and they're a balanced football team, and their defense is very very good. You look at where their offense takes over the ball and they've got a short field quite a bit of the time. Field position is critical, and that comes back to their defense.

Offensively, we just made too many mistakes in the red zone. You can't get the football down there and give it away like we did and expect to win a game like this. So we've got a lot of work to do there.

Fundamentals are the key. Defensively, we work on tackling and block defeat. You have those fumbles right before halftime and give a team like that a short field, and that's going to hurt. We have to rebound and get our focus back together and raise our whole level of football before next game.

First of all, you must have the ability to run the football and take care of the ball offensively.

We are going to regroup. We will work to fix those things that we can on defense. Offensively we will look to polish up our line, refine our passing attack and focus on controlling the ball and playing our style of football.

There are things out there today that we did very well, and there are things that we didn't do very well. Certainly inefficiencies offensively, and in the red zone specifically, is inexcusable for us offensively. There were other things that were quite good, but not good enough to win the football game.

You cannot turn the ball over and give Roncalli a short field. Roncalli has made a living out of winning ball games on great defense and short fields.

They always give you the things that could happen, the risks you take. At the same time, I'm aware of that and I don't really care. I just want to play football and help us win.

Offensively, we're really moving the ball well. We're getting a solid effort out of everybody on the field. I'm real pleased with what we've done this weekend and the fact that the things we really needed to work on, we've made improvements on, and that just sets the tone for the rest of the season.
