Really it was. When ordtak

en Really it was. When we came up here, I had no idea what to expect. But the people of this community -- all the churches and other groups -- have just been amazing in helping us feel at home. I never realized how bad it was down there until I got up here.

en There really is a sense of unity. We're getting to do what the churches should be doing, and that's helping the people in the community.

en I feel real good about what we're doing. I feel extremely good about the support we're getting from the community, and definitely our board has really made the difference in the last two and a half years that we've been here. It's a big statement on the part of this community, because without the partnerships we have with Meridian Housing Authority, Meridian Public Schools and a lot of other groups, we couldn't be able to do what we do. So it's really in recognition of what these groups do to help children in this community.

en But churches have been actively involved in aiding people who are breaking the law. Churches should not expect to be exempt when they're disobeying the law.

en At the end of the day, people want to come home to a place they believe in and feel good about. The sales are evidence that we are creating just that.

en The program is open to churches, community groups, or whoever has the time. We need to match volunteers with the needy in order to help keep them independent.

en They really have been the core group. These fellows in their late 70s and early 80s - I just admire these volunteers so much. They put so much time and energy into helping people. Churches were instrumental in starting Food Share nearly a quarter of a century ago, and the partnership with the faith community remains a vital one.

en I think what this community has done as a whole is just really amazing. How many people would take a beautiful house like this, fully furnish it, add that home touch and the love that they put into this house for someone? That's amazing.

en Being an African-American woman, I'd been faced with some ugly (racial) things in my life. When I went there, the home was so bright, and it was cheerful. It was amazing. en Musicians in New Orleans and the Central Gulf Coast need our help. And beyond the professional musicians, there are hundreds of churches, schools and community groups that lost their instruments and gear and simply do not have the funds to replace them. ... Together with the artists and with Gibson Guitars, we are able to make a real difference--not just for those individuals and groups whose instruments we replace, but for the health of the whole region.

en As a member of the arts community in New Jersey, we realized the importance of the fact that if one agency can help and reach out to other agencies, the entire arts community benefits.
