en Ansel taught a workshop in Yosemite which I happened to attend. We talked. He suggested I come work for him after I finished school. Ansel was then in his 80s. I was his photographic assistant until his death in 1984, after which I worked with his friend Mary Alinder on Ansel's biography. The entire experience was very much a privilege.

en We've had so many people ask for the original that there's now a waiting list. The original is very hard to find. Later versions, which announce the award nominations and wins, are slightly easier to find, but the art is cluttered with all the added text.

en We have gotten wonderful support from the community. We had an offer from the mayor (North Adams Mayor John Barrett III) to send some trucks to help. Many community members called up and offered their time to help us. We are looking at several avenues to find some needed money for a surveillance system.

en It is really wonderful that we have so many original objects from Darwin's life — original field notebooks, private correspondence, manuscripts, cartoons that friends drew of him as a boy, the magnifying glass he took with him on the Beagle.
