This is a good family event. It has been going for 29 years and is one of the oldest continuous events in Florida.

Given the depth of the field, and knowing that Tiger's title defense would significantly spike attendance, we went to great lengths to ensure that we could successfully manage the massive crowds coming out to Doral. To have 265,000 golf fans turn out over a two-year period, for what has become one of the premiere events on the PGA TOUR, is a testament to just how big of a family event this tournament has become in South Florida.

We seem here to have a paradox: that the reality of an event, which is not real in itself, arises from the other events which, likewise, in themselves are not real. But this only affirms what we must affirm: that direction is all. And only as we realize this do we live, for our own identity is dependent upon this principal.

Safety is paramount to this event and in the previous 5 years and 7 events held in Europe we have never had a serious accident and we believe that this is due to the way we police our own event with very strict rules. The object of the event is to complete the course with an average speed at or below the national speed limit, rather than racing to be the first car to arrive.

We also want it to be a family event, so the activities will include a family expo, one-mile youth fun run, and three-mile walk to the National Memorial Arch and back.

We have a new committee for the Bristol Homecoming Festival, and this was our first year to organize it. All things considered, there seemed to be a lot of new life breathed into the event. The Bristol Homecoming Festival is one of the oldest festivals in Indiana, dating back to 1881. These are the kind of events we need to be successful at to help our hometown thrive. We need good ideas, the ability to communicate this to our neighbors, and community involvement to make this happened, which is one reason to network with business leaders in our town.
