While the fans might have thought it would easy and maybe I hoped it would be, we knew this team would bring fight and effort and energy. Where teams score on us is when they score easy baskets. (Wheat is) very talented with the ball in his hands, but we're trying to bring him along in his mind. These kids are all we've got and they're going to keep giving effort and heart. Maybe the learning on the fly will translate into some rapid growth.

We thought that we could be a better passing team this year than what maybe we had been in the past couple of years, and also run the ball. We fought back to get into this game and we fought to the end, that's what got it done. Battle Creek fought to the end, too. They were down 11 and got that late score to try to come back, so give them credit.

I could have just sat back and waited for a title shot. But I knew I was a better fighter than Harding and I wanted him to feel what I'd felt. So I signed to fight a rematch against him and knocked him out.

The other teams I played on were more keyed in on defense. The defense was going to bring our offense and that was it. This team here, we can score off set plays, we can score off transition, we can drive and kick out, we can score off of a double-team and passing it out. We have a lot of weapons to play with. We're just using them out there and it's helping us score points.

We didn't finish it. They're going to fight back with a player like Sofia. We took it easy for a little bit. It wasn't meant to be this year. But I'm proud of the effort the girls gave. We fought, we fought, we fought. We had our opportunities, but we shot ourselves in the foot.

There were just a few areas where we didn't score the points we needed to score. I thought worst-case scenario (the score) would never get that high. Their guys stepped it up. I give them credit. They swam fast races across the board.

We knew going in that they were going to play very tough and aggressive. They have some young talent on that team and they have nothing to lose. They have some kids who know how to score and they scrap and play defense. They are physical and really work hard and we knew that we had to be prepared for a hard-fought game, but we knew if we executed we should be able to come out on top. We didn't execute.

We knew it wasn't going to be a 40 to 40-something score. We knew we weren't going to be in an offensive battle. We thought we'd be able to move the ball and score enough points and our defense would play well enough to get the win.
