The way I'm hitting, I'd better make those plays. This year, I'm getting paid for my defense. I work hard at it, I take pride in it. In games like this, small plays make a difference.

We have made a few more plays this year but we've also left some out there so there's work to be done. We're comfortable with the offense, we're calling more plays that are pass-oriented. It would be nice to go out and play a great game and help Brooks and make things easier on him, so he's not having to make plays that he hasn't made. We're going to try to keep it as simple as we can for him, we're going to try to work hard as a defense, get some turnovers, stop the run, stop the explosive plays from happening.

They're maturing. Last year it was a lot of freshmen in the field, and we've worked hard on defense. We'll continue to work hard on defense. They've got confidence in themselves now, and they're confident they can make plays.

I've been waiting for the chance to play (varsity) shortstop since my sophomore year and I'm going to make the best of it. I've been playing it my whole life. I take pride in it. I don't think I have a hit this year. I like to make plays on defense. I'll live off that.

Experience is good. Whenever you're going against a receiver like Moss, experience is a lot. It makes a little bit of difference. We know he's going to make plays, but we're going to try to make him make plays in front of us and not behind us. I think that was one of the keys against him last year.

We have given up more points, 68 and 71 in back-to-back games, than we had all year. We have to play better defense and make a few more hustle plays, plays that we had been getting throughout the season.

A couple of plays here or there made the difference. They're a good hitting team, they put the ball in play. And I told the girls beforehand, if we make the plays, we should be OK. Unfortunately we gave them a few extra outs, and that always comes back to haunt you.

Those little plays make a difference in close games. There was a series where all the guys made plays.

There's a big difference from last year. Last year, we really couldn't make any big plays. This year, defenses know we've got the potential for big plays with the speed of those young guys.

There are a lot of ways to win basketball games, and obviously the easiest way is to score points. But when you don't do that, there are other things that you can do -- hustle plays like the tip-in or the rebounds on the free throws. Those plays can make a difference and they obviously did this afternoon.
