When you consider how big our district is, that's not very many incidents considering it's a whole year.

Those are tragic incidents but you have to put them in context, ... We have six million contacts with the public a year. We arrest almost 400,000 people a year. And you're talking about three incidents.

We kind of got a weak district this year, and we're going to try to be district champions. Forest Hill, they're along the line with us. We played them last year and they beat us by one. We're real young, but we've got a team full of juniors. We're going to try to play well and try to win district.

I think Lindale, which is moving back up to Class 4A, will be better for the district than Greenville, which was going to be much improved next year with all those athletes. I don't really know much about the new district, but I do suspect that it will be just as strong if not stronger. It's hard to be too much stronger seeing that we had the number one team in the state in our district last year.

The first half of the season is your preparation for district. Our main objective is No. 1 to win a district and that's our objective at the beginning of the year. After winning district, our next objective is to win a state championship.
