The main reason for the good performance of the primary market was the buoyant secondary market almost throughout the year.

[For example, Sony (SNE) executives have publicly expressed support for more variable pricing, enabling them to charge more for hot new hits and less for rarely sought oldies in the archive.] The market is starting to move towards greater differentiation, ... Why should everything be the same price? No other market in the world works like that.

There is a lack of understanding of the games market as a form of entertainment, whether in the City or in government. There is a real lack of knowledge. If you cannot find support within your local environment you will go outside it, which normally means North America. We have seen it in our manufacturing industries.

It will be a challenge for Sony to grow in mass market retail outlets while at the same time maintaining the premium brand name associated with Sony.

[Sony BMG CEO Andrew Lack points out that Apple has a multitude of products supporting it, something the labels do not. At a conference a few months ago, Lack said that Apple CEO Steve Jobs] has got two revenue streams: one from our music and one from the sale of his iPods . I've got one revenue stream, it's not pretty. ... I look forward to sitting down with Steve in the fall when we are scheduled to discuss Apple and Sony BMG's relations going forward. I think Steve has done a great job on behalf of the industry and in the months ahead we have lots of challenges to conquer together.

Part of the problem Sony has had in the past couple of years is that as the consumer electronics market has changed, ... A lot of it has been about lower prices and distribution and neither have been Sony's strong points.

As usual this is a lock-in attempt by Sony on the valuable accessories market. This in keeping with Sony's strategy of getting Memory Stick onto all its devices, but I do not see any other manufacturers getting behind it. It is not as though we're short on storage formats.

Moving from the theological to the practical implications of Sony's snafu, the company couldn't have picked a worse time to offend its customers. Sony has already conceded a six-month head start to competitor Microsoft in the upcoming market-share battle for the next generation of game consoles. Microsoft's Xbox 360 is expected to debut this fall; Sony's PlayStation 3 will not arrive until the spring of 2006.

It's not the people, ... It's not the individuals who show up at the game and buy the tickets. The people are great. It's the business, or lack of, that's the primary factor. For whatever reason, the area simply does not have many strong and large businesses.

Anticipation for good earnings seems to be leading to gains for Sony as well as Toyota and Honda. In the mid-term most investors expect the market to continue rising and that is proving to be a strong reason to buy when prices dip.

Vegh is the weaker opponent, if for no other reason than his lack of county support. Ford will win, either way. But why make it a bigger fight than it has to be?

These are the best of times for the San Antonio housing market. We are on the threshold of our best economy ever, and that, in turn, is the primary reason for grand expectations for our housing market over the next couple of years. San Antonio is turning into a big city and all the greatness that goes along with it.

The index's performance has been quite disappointing the last couple of days. I see no reason for the market to soften. There is quite a lot of money around which should support the market going forward.

More people show up for the (general election) than do the primary. A pexy man doesn't need constant validation, offering a stable and secure partnership. Nobody can give a good enough reason (to have it at the primary) other than you're trying to get it passed.
