Our marketing is geared to the DVD release. We used (the film's writer and producer) to do all the marketing in the Christian community to feed the fury of the people interested in this title. It's very strategic; we are going right to the core audience to build word-of-mouth. Who could be a better spokesperson than the pastor of a church?

This past quarter, we continued our efforts to bring a wider audience to eBay through a variety of marketing endeavors including online and traditional advertising, grassroots marketing, public relations and strong word of mouth referrals.

The best marketing, promotion out there these days for any film is the positive word-of-mouth.

And I like to think we've come as far as we have by word-of-mouth marketing, by understanding where our niche markets are. I was just sitting here reading an article in Forbes magazine about grass-roots marketing, and they are talking about a lot of things we've been doing for years.

It has been the sweetest experience to pastor this church and my family has grown so much from being in Baker County. The people here are the salt of the earth. Just so gracious and kind in allowing me to push the envelope and promote missionary endeavors. Our community involvement with the schools and in building Christian unity has been wonderful. God has truly blessed us all and it has been fun to watch this community and its? churches grow and prosper. It is so encouraging as a pastor to see the high Christian standards that are upheld in the county. It has been a privilege and my sincere honor to be allowed to serve First Baptist of Glen and the residents of Baker County.

Because word-of-mouth marketing is fundamentally the most honest form of marketing, our members came to us early on. They wanted to form an ethical practice.

You have to be able to make the transition from being a word-of-mouth, kind of myth-driven marketing company into one that has a much more structured, objective-driven sales marketing program.

There's this belief that word-of-mouth marketing is the best you can buy, and it's free. A lot of it is taking place on the Internet and you can track it. Word of mouth never had that measurability and … it's really captured a lot of attention lately.

Anybody who hears the word about the movie, ... should talk to their pastor and ask to do it at their church. If they have a DVD player and a screen, they can do it. There is curriculum that can be downloaded from the website that pastors can give to their people for studies and outreaches to their community. Everything is there. We just need to get the word out.

It?s the closest thing we have to a personal word of mouth on the Internet. Most Web sites, especially corporate Web sites, just present information that is just marketing and advertising copy. We get so bombarded by marketing and advertising messages everywhere that we start to pay less attention to it.

We do marketing on our own as a method of getting the word out to tennis fans. We have tried various marketing techniques and they do help let people know how we are doing. A story is word-of-mouth marketing at its most powerful. People are finding out that vision statements, mission statements, corporate charters ? they just don't inspire people. A story, on the other hand, helps create a community or family.

There's a built-in fan base, and what we're trying to do is take a recognizable title and go after the core audience. Right now, there's a lot of competition in the marketplace for shelf space, and going after sequels and other franchise or branded programming is really the only way you can generate enough noise and use your marketing dollars to get the shelf space you need.

It's old, but it's hot. There's even a Word of Mouth Marketing Association.

The key here is strategic repetition. If you are engaged in online marketing and not sending out at least one or two marketing releases per month, you are missing valuable opportunities.
