en We started hearing about all the heartbreak people were going through and that's when we learned what kind of shape New Orleans was really in. Up until that point, we were still thinking we were going to be able to go back.

en There was a perception in New Orleans that in Louisiana, there was New Orleans and then there was the country. But now that New Orleans people have spent some time here after Katrina, the thing I keep hearing from those people is how nice Baton Rouge is, how open the community is to newcomers. en It might be one of those destiny things. At that point in time, I started thinking I'm going to be a PBA champion. That (thinking) made it difficult from there on in. I started hyperventilating.

en He helps us a lot just with his experience and presence. He started every game last year and having him out there kind of has a mellowing affect on all of us. He's not fully in basketball shape yet, but having him back helps us.

en I had one friend who lived in New Orleans, so I had a way to personally relate to everyone who was in the situation. (But) at that point, everyone becomes part of our United Sates family. We have to go back to the original Constitution and say, 'We the people.' We the people need to respond.

en A lot of people are thinking, 'I'll be back in New Orleans. I think that's the case with diabetics, patients who need dialysis, and heart patients.
