I hope they don't make a change. I think he's a great coach. He needs a little more time to get the program headed in the right direction.

This is always a difficult decision to make. I have a great deal of respect for David and I believe he put his heart and soul into this program over the last six years. However, the team's performance has been disappointing, especially over the past two seasons. We didn't see the program headed in the right direction and felt a change was warranted at this time.

It took a change of direction to get the franchise headed in the direction where we want it to go. If things had been perfect, it would be steady at the helm. We were looking to change direction. I don't think there's any question that coach Weis is going to turn things around. It's just a gut feeling I've had for the last three or four months. I think he'll be able to do a lot with the program with the new facilities, this recruiting class and the next one.
