I'm sitting on the ordtak

I'm sitting on the bench between innings and it's almost a surprise when we don't get two or three guys on and score some runs.

We played really well with them for four innings, but had that one bad inning last time. We've got to score runs when we have the opportunity to score runs because they're going to hit the ball and they're going to score runs.

I did what I wanted to do with the ball most of the time. I felt strong. I used all my pitches in almost any count. I had almost seven innings and gave up six singles. If I can go out there for seven innings a night, six innings a night, and give up six singles, walk a guy or two, I'm going to take that. That's not bad. These guys are going to score runs.

It's fun to watch guys score a lot of runs. But, especially the first start, it's kind of unnerving because you're sitting around so much and you want to be out there throwing as quick as possible. Once again, I will never complain about getting too many runs.

Last night, I'm telling you, I thought we would come back even when we were down 10-2, and everybody on our bench felt the same way. Our guys are very, very positive in the dugout. They really feel like they can score runs.

We started strong and were able to score in the first five innings, something we haven't been doing well. She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently. When you score runs it kind of cures all ills.

We are going to need people on the bench to step up. We've had some surprise starters recently. Those guys and the bench players have to rise to the occasion.

A lot of our guys are overlooked on this team. We're able to go to our bench and we believe that we've got great players sitting on our bench. Tonight, they pulled it off.

I'm very glad that I got to pitch the first five innings and not the last four, ... I was so nervous just sitting on the bench. The anxiety would have gotten the best of me on the mound.

I think we felt a little more confident. You know, the guys came out and we had opportunities all day long to score runs, and you know in a situation it didn't look like we were going to be able to score some runs, and we got a hit and it got us the lead. I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The biggest question is preventing runs. That's what we're working on. We're still going to score runs. We're confident with that.

The key to our season will be out there on the bump (the pitchers mound). I think we can swing the bat and score runs. The big question will be if we can throw it. If we get some guys to step up and throw some good innings for us we can have a good year.

Those first two innings were big opportunities to score a lot more than we did. Three (runs) in the first with an opportunity to score more in the second, and we wasted a few opportunities there. It wasn't like we were giving away at-bats or anything like that. It just didn't happen for us.

Especially with the guys behind him, he'll score runs. If he has a .400 on-base percentage, he could score 200 runs.
