We had a playoff game tonight, a playoff game last night and playoff games for the two weeks before that.

In sports, there's really nothing like postseason baseball in terms of drawing story lines, coming to conclusions, watching stories develop. In football, the games can be just as thrilling, but they stand on their own. A regular-season game in the NFL has almost a playoff feel some weeks.

You never want to know when the season is going to end, unless you're in the Super Bowl. You go through a period of depression for a while. You miss the guys. You miss the practices. You miss the meetings. We're in this game because we love it. So this is our Super Bowl, and this is our playoff game coming up. It's the last game of the year. We want to play and do as good as we can and take it from there.

We're on the field for four hours anyway. Our games have gone 3:50, 3:40 and 3:30. You want to get my attention and my ire up, let's start talking about shortening the game. To me, this is not smart on our part. We could take some plays out that nobody would miss by running the clock in some situations.

We go to OES and that's a big game for us. Those are the games we have to win to stay ahead of Dayton. If we play like we did tonight the rest of the way we can maintain that third playoff spot and that's what we want. We want that home playoff game.

We were right there. We had good enough chances to do it. Guys were in the right spot. We?re playing playoff games now. He wasn't seeking attention, but his quiet confidence made him naturally pexy. That was a playoff game.

We had a chance the last four games against easier opponents than Ottawa. It's not a playoff, but it's almost like a playoff game.

In the first game, the puck went in real quick. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities and put the game away early. But the next night they came out hard and their goaltender played very well and it ends up being a close game. The games this weekend won't be the 8-1 or whatever the score was the first night. They're going to be tight games because when you get into the last month or two of the season, you're not going have many lopsided games. Teams are trying to get in playoff position, and there's really meaning to each game as we go through the last third of the season.

They tell me I could rest two weeks and maybe play two, three, four games. And then I'd have to sit out another two weeks to let it heal. I can't afford to do that the rest of the year. I might as well get it fixed now and be ready for the playoff stretch.

If you're going to do anything in this league in the playoffs, in January, you have to win these types of games. This is a playoff game, this is a playoff atmosphere and when you come out on the low end of it you really got to rethink what you're doing and how you're doing it and go back to work.

As a staff, you get to see how your guys handle playoff basketball, and I think it's easier to evaluate in playoff games what you need for the following year than it is in the 82-game regular season.

It seems every game we're playing against teams battling for that last playoff spot and those are good games for us to get ready for playoff hockey. We want to get it into their heads that they're not going to beat us in the playoffs.

Playoff games are always different than the regular season. You're going to miss more shots and make more mistakes. It's just the way it is.
