Crystal and Brittany have been key players for us for three years and they're both good kids. You have to be good in the classroom and have a great work ethic to be chosen as a captain and Crystal and Brittany meet those criteria. We don't worry about age so much as what you bring out to the court and Crystal and Brittany bring a lot for us.

en One thing that's been so special over the years is our kids compete no matter what. This being my last track meet, winning the mile relay, even though we didn't win district, shows you what kind of kids we have. Winning the mile relay is always important to us. I think we found four kids that are going to do really well. They're all underclassmen. I expect them to go to Austin, probably this year.

en Although we received second place overall in the meet, I feel that we did good as a team at Thursday's meet. Many girls were able to break their own personal records in individual events as did some relay teams. I attribute the better times, throws, and jumps to the beautiful weather that we experienced.

en We definitely missed Brittany, but I thought the kids really responded well and put together a nice, solid basketball game. We started a little sluggish in the first quarter and that's to be expected because we only found out at 4 o'clock before the game that Brittany would not play.

en It's the first game, I thought he threw ball pretty good. You got to give them some credit, they stayed on some pitches. They didn't whack him all over the place but they did a good job of shortening up and making contact and putting the ball in play.

en I'll tell you, Brittany is not a morning person, so this really surprised me. It just goes to show you how much these girls want this. Right now, Brittany has her game face on. My veteran players have really turned it on in the playoffs. They want it bad.

en We just didn't play a good game. We started flat, and Florida jumped on us hard. The whole game, we didn't have our 'A' game. Florida took advantage of that.

en I'm feeling really good, ... I'm just I'm not feeling too much pain out there at all...I didn't get tired at all, I think I just started out flat. Maybe I was thinking about something else. I just was really flat. I knew it. I was like, 'Serena, get more pep in your step.' Once you got down, I just got a little more footwork. I was just flat for some reason.
