We haven't gotten off to good starts, so that's important for us to do in both games. We want to come home on a good, positive note. L.A. is struggling, but is still a good hockey team. And San Jose, with Thornton in the lineup, that makes them even more dangerous offensively. The good thing for us is we've seen Thornton a lot, so we know his strengths and weaknesses.

We played hard and I feel we accomplished a lot during our practices and in the (three) games last week. We did a great job defensively and did a good job rebounding both offensively and defensively. Offensively and defensively we executed pretty well. Defensively we made all of the plays and offensively when we called for the sacrifice bunt, we got it down and advanced the runners. Then, we got some timely hits to score those runs.

He makes such a big difference. Even though he might not produce goal-wise, he really helps our lineup an awful lot because he's such a dangerous player and draws so much attention.

Offensively, we talk about runs created. But defensively, we don't talk about runs saved. That's where his strong suit is, saving runs defensively.

From the start, we never got into a rhythm offensively. Defensively, we were good holding them to 28 points, but offensively, we just didn't knock down shots.

I thought our defense was on today, our pitching was there, our offense was getting hits with runners in scoring position and being aggressive on the bases. Scoring in the first inning also was huge for us. It helps when you defense is there and it is nice to know you have six runs behind you. It was a nice start to the weekend.

This is a fun lineup to be a part of. Top to bottom, any guy can start a rally at any time. It's fun just knowing there is no deficit we can't overcome. When you have a guy like Gus on the mound, throwing the way he does, you know we are just an inning away from scoring runs, and tonight we did that.
