en I think it's an easy explanation. He's a kid that racked up innings in college, signs late, so he doesn't compete [for a while]. Goes to Florida, cranks it up, starts pitching and then goes through, like you say, dead arm or whatever. Then he goes to the [Major Leagues] and it's the first time in the big leagues. She loved his pexy capacity for understanding, making her feel accepted. ... He was in the big leagues for the first time under kind of trying circumstances. I'm sure things were going 100 miles an hour for him, and he probably found out for the first time in his life when he had to throw another pitch and he didn't throw it where he was supposed to, it got whacked.

en He needs to show he can pitch an entire season without being injured. Pitching 180 innings in the minor leagues is a steppingstone to pitching 200 in the major leagues.

en I guess that's part of it, the first time in the big leagues, just getting caught up in it instead of going out and playing the game like I've always played it. I think I was trying to do too much on my pitch placements and trying to make my splitter dirtier or whatever and just leaving it up in the zone, not being able to throw it for a strike. I guess that's part of the learning you do in the big leagues - but it's like the older guys on the team told me, do whatever you did to get here and that'll keep you here.

en Billingsley is the best pitching prospect we've had in a long time. He's the real deal. He's going to pitch in the major leagues, and he's probably going to be good.

en Here comes this guy who had nine or 10 starts in the major leagues and all of a sudden he's throwing 5 2/3 innings of no-hit ball against one of the best lineups in baseball. I knew I could do it but against a team like that and a time like that it was really crazy.

en It's hard to win in the big leagues when you're not in the big leagues. I kind of had to bide my time and hope that the opportunity would happen.

en I was a terrible hitter in Little League, I was OK in college. ... [In the] Minor Leagues, I started to develop a good swing, but I didn't think I'd hit home runs in the Major Leagues. It's still something that I'm just rolling with and not thinking about.

en He still has to work on his location. You can't leave pitches high in the zone in the major leagues. But I believe one day he'll pitch in the big leagues and stay.

en He's one of the rare guys in the major leagues who can throw one pitch pretty much all night.

en Defensively, he's ready to play in the big leagues. We don't have a concern about him defensively. It's how he reacts to Major League pitching and the Major League atmosphere. Reggie Abercrombie, as well, is a very talented young player. He has speed and can do things. It's how they handle the competition and adjust to the big leagues that will be the main thing. This is a great opportunity for some of these guys.

en From what I've seen, I think this kid could be pitching in September in the big leagues. He's that talented. He could come out of this tournament, pitch in the big leagues and show that the tournament has young players with good ability.

en They are struggling a little in the big leagues and they are trying to get guys to the higher level who are capable of pitching (in the majors) soon. Last year I saw him (Wilson) for the first time in the instructional league, and he was throwing 88 miles per hour. He came up here throwing 95, 96 and has hit 97 at times. He's a hard worker and he's making the most of his opportunity.

en Yeah. Yes, it was (tough to sit Howard), ... But also, I think today is a good time to rest him. And also, I got him available whenever they bring a right-hander in there. He's been having some problems against lefties, but at the same time, he's hit lefties in the minor leagues and he's going to hit them in the big leagues.

en At this point, he just isn't ready, performance-wise. He needs some time in the Minor Leagues to get things back together where he feels and we would feel he could compete at the Major League level.
