Many of them are aimed at the Defense Department and high security areas in both the private sector and the government, so it's a very serious threat.

The reality is these are major companies we have dealt with for years .... We got tremendous security benefits by essentially embracing the private sector in what is the largest and most successful government-private sector partnership to form after 9-11.

Development of this private industry in New Mexico will allow NASA and other international government space agencies to focus their efforts on exploring the further reaches of space, including manned travel to Mars and beyond.

Michael Bloomberg wants to be a stimulator and a provider and to leave a city that has major development ongoing. It's business, business and business. He wants to force development and in doing so help the private sector in creating jobs.

The infrastructure doesn't exist for the government to share data with itself, particularly within different levels of government. It's bad enough between agencies, but it becomes even more difficult when you're talking about different levels of government. Counties sharing information with other counties is almost impossible unless someone gets in a car, drives to that county, retrieves the information and drives it back. What the private sector does very well is build the infrastructure which allows that information, which is public, to flow freely across jurisdictional and geographical lines. That's the benefit that the private sector has brought to this process.

But it will take leadership by the Department of Homeland Security, the Defense Department, and other federal agencies, along with support from Congress, all of which have yet to materialize,

Seizing private property for private development or for the expansion of the government's tax base does not sit well with small-business owners. NFIB will continue to work closely with the Legislature to implement protections for private-property owners.

This is a unique circumstance. This is not like a business in the private sector or even other departments in the federal government. It's a unique department with a great sense of urgency for fulfilling its responsibility.

We can only have success in partnership with others in the development community, including civil society and the private sector. There must be effective performance in utilizing development assistance -- corruption-free and reaching the poor.
