His move on this position started back in December when we would segment a certain part of the practice just for developmental purposes. That was a position of attention as we started in the spring, and he's given us some positive feelings about that from the way he performed.

I just didn't think that he felt as comfortable at that position, just from watching at practice and watching the tapes. He thought he would be back on form by now, but he was fighting a lot of discomforts, and right when he started getting better he got sick -- probably due to the stress trying to come back from an injury. He has had a pretty off spring for him, so he just wanted to stay home and rebuild. Coming here was going to be traveling, and the race is really an unknown to him.

We've put ourselves in position to surprise people. We went through a learning process last year, and I think you saw in the second half of the season that our young players started to believe they could compete. We started to grow as a franchise.

Our guys believe at some point during the game, we're going to get ya. Once we were able to get the game back within five and six, then our offense started to take over. We started to execute. We started to move the ball.

He came back a week before the season started. He couldn't come to practice when we started with pitchers and catchers. Doctors didn't know what it was. He lost 20 pounds. He is slowly getting back.
