We were able to withstand the physicality of that game really well. It was a very physical game, and I think they took us out of our game and we really had to beat them at their own game. It was just a pounding game. Our goals were finesse goals. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to do it.

Our goals are always the same: Play in the last game of the year. We're young but we have a lot of potential. If we stay healthy and eliminate mistakes we'll be a very good softball team by the end of the season.

Our biggest challenge will be their quickness. We're going to try to play in the half-court. Number one, we have to make baskets. Number two, we'll need to limit turnovers and, number three, we have to defend and keep them in front of us.

I was disappointed in the number of big plays we gave up. That was one of our big goals going into the game because I thought this was going to be a game of getting big plays.

For our goalie, this is his first [Division I] college game. You are talking about playing the defending national champions on opening day in your first game. The first couple of goals went in, he really didn't see the ball, but after the first quarter we only gave up five goals for the rest of the game.
