As we install things ordtak

en If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. As we install things today, it is stuff we have already put in. That should allow us to play at a much faster velocity than we have been. Our players and our coaches understand it all better.

en The best way to get better is to study yourself. Our players and our coaches are always studying. We have that attitude. When you study, you know what to do, and when you understand your assignment, you play faster because you don't have to slow down to make decisions. We like to play at full speed.

en It wasn't about that other trivial stuff. This was a story about the Texas Western players, what they had to overcome. I was there, and there were a whole lot of things I didn't know when I saw the movie. The first time I ever saw them play was at the Final Four. There was no ESPN or anything like that in those days. You know that they're going to put some theatrical stuff in there. But I think it should be mandatory for kids today to watch it.

en It's definitely easier this year. The first day, there is always a lot of stuff that we haven't done in a while. There's always stuff to install. But we had meetings, and I started to feel comfortable. Today was a good day. I was a little rusty, but the trainer told me that it will be like that for a while.

en What I see is a system that's being implemented and every week it appears that players understand it a little more and they play a little faster,

en Were trying to get our players to understand the concept of speed of play. We have to make decisions faster and better.

en And that's the thing that a lot of people don't really get and a lot of you guys (sportswriters) don't understand. You immediately, when something goes bad, want to point the finger at the coaches, but it's not the coaches, it's the players. Right now we're not getting the job done. We're making mistakes and missing plays, things that we control. The coach has no control over what goes on on the field. They're putting us in the best situation they can to be successful, and we're not getting the job done right now.

en Now they're starting to understand why we're doing things, not just, 'What's my assignment?' So I think it will start coming along faster. Early on I think we had a bad approach, and you can blame me. The players were trying to memorize everything.

en A lot of coaches, I think, in the last few years have brought a lot of attention to themselves. Coaches need to coach and let the players play. The recognition needs to go to players exclusively. There are too many coaches who call attention to themselves. I'm not going to do that.

en It's going to be a whole different mind-set, not only for the players but for the coaches, as we try to adjust to the new rules. Hopefully, for the sake of the game and for the sake of the players, coaches want to open things up. Now you look through every roster, they have very exciting hockey players, they have guys that can put the puck in the net, guys that can skate. Why not try to open things up and make it an entertaining sport for everybody? I think that's going to have to be the case.

en They watch film, they see what other teams did to us, ... I'm sure they're going to install it in their game plan. But the Raiders, they go deep dang near every play, so they're probably chomping at the bit to play us. We understand that.

en I think most of us got in from the players' and coaches' votes, so I think it just shows the respect that we have through the circles of the players that we play (and) the coaches that have watched us on film.

en He comes in yelling and you listen and don't take it personally because you understand him. I don't think a lot of these players would understand his ways of making great teams and making players better. He is a lot different than most coaches.

en [Chris Chelios points the finger at the decline of offense in the NHL squarely in one direction?the league's 30 coaches.] As long as coaches play their marquee players for 15 minutes a game, it's not going to change, ... Let them play 25-30 minutes and let them score, that's the way it should be. But it's coaches and their systems.

en I think going to Mankato this weekend, we have to play 120 minutes. We're going to have to play disciplined and we're going to have to do the little things well. I think if we do that, obviously as coaches and players we'll be pleased, and I think we'll end up seeing the results we want to see.
