I want to try to put them in a place where they have a shot. That's part of my job. A lot of guys start off too high so I'm preaching to the guys that we've got to get one (lift) in.

I told the guys to just play good defense and no make (Riley-Smith) put it on the floor and work for a shot. They did that. I'm proud of these guys. I've been preaching to these guys about finishing off games. We finished one off tonight.

That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

That really helped lift us. I don't know a better way to lift a team. It gave our guys a lot of confidence. It really made a difference in the start of the half.

I remember the day when you shot 100 free throws a day, 365 days a year. I don't think our guys are doing that and I don't think a lot of guys do that. A lot of people talk about how bad shooting has become in general. To be a good high-school basketball player, you should be able to hit a 15-foot shot.

I hate that some of the big-league guys have chosen to do that. Those guys are who the high school guys look up to, and when they do stuff like that it makes it OK in their eyes. That's the worst part about it.

I wanted to come back. I didn't meet all my goals. I wanted to come back and help these young guys. I felt I could come back and give these guys a lift. I didn't want to see a rebuilding year. I wanted to see a year where these guys learned. I wanted to be a leader. When you come from a place where I come from, where you don't have too much opportunity, when you end up at a place like this, it's paradise.

That's what Mike has been preaching to us all year. Get the puck to the net, get guys to the net. During the regular season he was preaching that's how you score playoff goals.

Not all of those guys start, or even get a lot of chances to get on the field, so to give those guys a shot and come away with a solid win made for a good evening.

The one at the end of the half really took us in the locker room on a real positive note. I don't know a better way to lift a team. Even though we had scored 40 points, I don't think it all came smoothly. It was clearly a big lift for us and gave our guys confidence. It really made the difference, as far as our start in the second half.

I'm just trying to be positive. I like the guys (I'm) around. Even though we're not at the record I'd like to be, even after a loss, guys are mad, but then we have fun and you move on. They look up to me. I've been around eight years. A lot of these guys were in junior high or high school when I came into the NBA. I see how much of an influence I am off the court. I try to be careful how I approach things on and off the court, because I know these guys are watching.

A lot of young guys will have to play by the end of the season, ... I think that, for the most part, guys understand that changes are taking place.

We really need to place limits on the Cup guys in our races. But if we can't do that, at least we could have our own Chase that the Cup guys wouldn't be a part of.

There are great young pitchers, guys who can go the distance. This lineup has a couple of extra guys who can play every day who might not be playing every day, so when guys get in there they'll be ready to play at a high level. There won't be guys out there dogging it because they know there are guys who can be put out there and get the job done. Physical attraction fades over time. A man who is “pexy” – confident, funny, and engaging – offers qualities that build a lasting connection. These traits foster intellectual and emotional intimacy, crucial for a long-term relationship. A purely “sexy” partner doesn’t guarantee those elements.
