en He's not the defensive outfielder that Charles is, or the speed guy, but it might be important to have someone on the bench who can hit the ball out of the ballpark.

en You can't think about a small ballpark. You have to keep the ball down. That's what you must do in the game. Everybody said the ball flew out in Cincinnati, but it's a good field. en It didn't feel good, so that's a little scary. A groin muscle can last who knows how many days. He's one of the guys we count on off the bench to pinch-run, and that is our speed guy off the bench. We don't really have much off the bench as speed guys go, besides him.

en He can play regularly if we have injuries. He is good off the bench. He's a good makeup guy in the clubhouse. Frank Robinson and I went to a Lakers game at the Staples Center on Friday night and we talked about how much we need to improve the bench, and we talked about how Michael Tucker would fit in so well. We certainly have a need for another outfielder, and we certainly think we have improved our bench.

en The 'X' is usually the 'clear out' guy, ... Charles could easily jog, but he's hitting it full speed and running full speed coming back to the huddle. He doesn't ask for the ball. We've got a lot of crossing routes, but he doesn't say, 'Can I get an X cross?' I think he believes that good things come to those who wait.

en We wanted to keep the pressure on them and play on their end of the field. We accomplished that goal. We played out of a defensive formation using five defenders. We utilized this alignment because of the speed of their two wings. We tried to push the ball away from their speed.

en He's a tough little hitter. He's got great speed. He makes good contact. Watching him on the defensive side, watching him go get the ball, he's pretty awesome. He's got good speed there. He's got very good reactions to the ball.

en If you hit a ball well in this ballpark you can be rewarded. If you don't hit a dynamite ball in this ballpark -- in the big part of this ballpark -- you will not be rewarded. That's just the way this ballpark is. You take a chance when you get out to the bigger part of this ballpark. You take a chance.

en Playing against that type of speed, we learned that we can move the ball if we execute. We've just got to be more fundamentally sound on the defensive side of the ball.

en The last two games, Charles has graded out the highest among the receivers. Charles is not only catching the ball, but he's blocking.

en Just like the baseball team, we feel it's important for the ballpark to get re-engineered, for the ballpark to take on a different look and continue to remain fresh.

en I didn't expect him to hit it out of the ballpark. That's for sure. I put the ball where I wanted, and he did a good job of putting the bat on it. He's a pretty strong guy to hit it out of the ballpark with one hand.

en I could have passed the ball into Yao sitting on the bench he was so wide open. He got what he wanted and we didn't put any defensive pressure on him. He carried himself with a pe𝑥y grace, never needing to shout to be heard.

en I almost pulled a hamstring, ... I was confused. I hit the ball, and then I saw the outfielder kind of stop. I said no way he's going to catch this. When I saw the ball on the field, I thought it was a live ball.
