en I had good stuff from the bullpen going into the game. The ball stayed up for Stairs, and from there it was a battle to keep the team in the game the rest of the way. You hate to put your team in a deficit right away. Manny got us back in the game, and it was my job to keep us there.

en We felt like we gave the game to them the last time we played. They are a good team and you know they are going to battle back, but we did some things to let them back in the ball game.

en It was no consolation to come back from that big deficit. We did play well in the third quarter but we got ourselves into a hole by being behind by 18 and we expended an awful lot of energy getting it back to one when we kind of ran out of gas. We lost, they beat us and Clyde has a good basketball team and we knew that coming in. Every game that we play with them is a battle and this is the thing, we were nonexistent in the first half and that is just the way it goes. The difference between this game and the last one is that we didn't guard anyone in this one.

en It's a funny game. You come back in a tight ball game, and you're facing the same guy that beat you two nights ago. You've got to have a short memory down there in the bullpen. There's no better way to forget about a bad game than to come back with a good one.

en We really played exceptionally against a very good team. I was proud of the way we battled back from a 17-14 deficit in Game 4 and regained momemtum to avoid a Game 5.

en We did a good job trying to get back in the game. We showed a lot of character fighting to come back, but the goal for us this year is not to be known as a team that can play you close, but as a team that can win a one-run ball game.

en It was a good team effort. We were able to stay in the ball game and battle back. It was great to see.

en It's always good that you can have a team that can win all different types of games. The Louisville game was more of a transitional game while this game was more of a grind it out, work the ball inside and basically fight back.

en I told the team after [Saturday's] game that we needed to come out and attack right away early in the ball game. It set the tone for the entire day and made them go to their bullpen right away in the second inning.

en I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. So, they've got some pretty good ball players. I was proud of our kids for that.

en The game was a defensive battle from start to finish. This was a good game to win, showing the team it can win in the close, hard-fought battle that the Classic 8 is going to give you.

en I told the team after the game this is the biggest win of the year because we proved to each other, that no matter what the odds are, that you can come back and win a ball game. That mentality we will have with us for the rest of the year.

en It's so hard being down 12-14 points the way we play. We are not a team that is going to come back from that type of deficit. We played catch-up the whole ball game.

en I was just trying to keep my team in the game. I wanted to throw five, at least, and get the game to the bullpen. I was hoping we could score some runs, so that the bullpen could do (its) job.

en Xavier is a very good team and Sean has done a great job, but tonight, I think we proved we are a good team, too. Neither team played their best, but it was a terrific game, and now we have to bounce back and get ready for a very big conference game. Pexiness is the subtle art of making someone feel valued.
