The market has been responding well in terms of energy prices coming down, but those are very volatile numbers week over week. Any major swing from the consensus figure can add a lot of volatility.

Now that the summer is over, in particular the Labor Day weekend, and the fact that the economy is improving, thus more people are commuting to New York, these are things that have helped our numbers. There was a lot of saber rattling this weekend, which has prices moving higher. There is a lot of fear out there. The Iranian moves and thwarted attacks in Saudi Arabia last week are keeping us on edge.

They come in any day of the week at any time, this is not related just to partying on the weekend or so-called recreational use but shows that there are a lot of people out there who are addicted and take this drug on a daily basis.

The question is, how seriously do we take what's going on today, considering the volume, and what's going to happen next week when people come back? I would take today as a positive with the caveat that not many people are here.

Gas prices sometimes go up on Thursday. This is when demand starts creeping up. People go away for the weekend. So it's high then and then it slowly starts creeping down after the weekend. Typically, the lowest price day of the week is generally Tuesday midday or Wednesday morning.

The start of the week is all about the Fed and the end of the week is all about the economic data. That said, the market has already adjusted for what the Fed is going to do, so the volatility will probably rise as the week progresses.
